The bright colors used bring this story to life, as they are very colorful, detailed, and show emotion. The illustrator uses scratchboard, luma dyes, goache, and oil paints to create these magical illustrations for this wonderful picture book.

It is told in first person and has elements of magic. The story is fairly straight forward, but I loved the illustrations.

I helped myself to, as I watched the handsome couple. The Caribbean language and culture was included throughout the book, and the glossary and pronunciation guide at the back of the book was also a nice addition. Oh, what fine food!
